2019 The Redman

Deep colour, retaining a good tinge of purple, the bouquet is spicy, earthy and savoury with the beginnings of bottle-age showing, and a hint of animal that doesn't bother it. Berry fruit is deep within. There is a lot of drying tannin and the wine is full-bodied and firm, with a long-lasting finish and masses of tannin. It's a concentrated wine that's been quite strongly extracted. This robust red needs time, and hearty food. (185 dozen made. 78% cabernet, 22% shiraz. The wine celebrates 100 years of Redman in Coonawarra, 1908-2008).
